Three Day Writing Skills Development workshop for Rural reporting

Charkha – The Development Communication Network, a Delhi based non-profit organisation conducted a three-day writing skills development workshop for rural reporting in Poonch with a focus on development issues, especially issues relevant to the empowerment of youth and women.

The three-day workshop started on 14th June 2019 and concluded on 16th June 2019.  The workshop was conducted by Mr. Mario Noronha, CEO, Charkha, and resource persons – Mr. Shams Tamanna, Consulting Editor, Charkha; Mr. Nazam Mir, President of National Peace, and Development Voice, a Poonch based NGO, and Ajaz ul Haq Bukhari from Mohib ul Garibeen Trust, another Poonch based NGO.  

The workshop started with the participants identifying the various development issues that needed to be addressed in Poonch district.

The enthusiastic youth who were from different blocks and villages of Poonch were taken through the basics of journalism.  They were also briefed about the various government schemes available.  The focus of the workshop was such that by the end of the workshop, each participant would be able to write a feature article that focuses on a particular development issue.

Charkha has been conducting writing skills workshops in Poonch since 2012 and hopes to continue so that the youth of Poonch district can benefit from our workshops.
